National Lottery Authority (NLA) Deputy Director General for Operations, Hon. Christian K. Cooper has named effective personnel classification and appraisal system, increased compliance of gaming laws and regulations as well as strengthen research, policy and planning capacities as his key priorities.
He noted that when these key issues are fully addressed, NLA will be completely independent and will even have the capacity to contribute to the National Budget and address critical government priority projects.
The NLA’s Deputy Director General for Operations made the disclosure in an interview with the Press in Monrovia on Thursday, June 20, 2024 in Monrovia.
Hon. Cooper also outlined lack of trained manpower and capacities to effectively and efficiently monitor gaming machines and the systems being used by the operators.
To adequately address these outlined challenges, he emphasized his office enthusiasm to closely working with the Director General of the Authority, Hon. Reginald Kpan Nagbe to institute significant policy mechanisms to effectively monitor contents and minimize potential harms in the industry thereby encouraging strong competitions amongst operators and investors.
Hon. Christian K. Cooper averred that the Management of the National Lottery Authority of Liberia is instituting mechanisms to setup a state-of-the-art technologically advanced centralized monitoring system of the industry (CMS) to effectively and efficiently track advertising methods, operating machines, financial in-flood and out-flood as well as potential money laundering treats and market value.
This effort, he noted will drive the industry to a new world of indebt comprehension and understanding of how the system works, its prospects and potential risks for positive and prompt redress mechanism.
He also mentioned plans to relocate the authority to its own modern, customed design and furnished headquarters that will have the capacity to accommodate all departments for smooth and opened running of operational activities.
Hon. Cooper thanked President Joseph N. Boakai for according him the opportunity to contribute his quota to his native land and people.
